This past summer was one of the best of my life, an adventure in more ways than one. In one particular case, that new person and that new thing were a package deal. Our generation has taken to texting for all of our communication needs. Faking interest in hopes of getting into a girl's pants is no longer a game being played.
At 19, I found myself in a summer fling with a man six years my senior. When you're dating someone in college, there's almost always the assumption that you're sleeping together. But older guys are just the right amount of old-fashioned. Whether this is because there is actually a paycheck to fund said dinner and drinks, or whether the #netflixandchill phenomenon started with our generation, I'm not 100 percent sure. Worth noting: If you are seeing a guy in his 20s who is still raving on about his brothers, it might be time to peace out. There's not enough time in the adult world for that.
Instead, he’ll take you out to a rustic little hole-in-the-wall restaurant with a quartet playing in the background.I'm not talking a freshman girl dating the senior quarterback, or a senior girl dating a recent grad. Prior to my 26-year-old dream boy, I had never even gotten asked out over the phone.I'm talking an age gap that might make your mom a little nervous. You could date a college guy for a year and maybe get 2 phone calls the whole time.It may not seem like a huge age gap to some, but for someone who only recently went out in the world on her own, (aka college), it was a big difference. Maybe you are and maybe you aren't, that's up to you and your beliefs. There's no longer a need to keep your SO updated on every little move you make, keep them updated on when your class ends and who you're going to get coffee with later. A few texts a day is more than enough to let the other know they're on your mind. It's a difference that makes a hell of a difference. But God, is it nice to go out to a nice dinner with your guy just for the hell of it. You no longer have to sit and pretend you care about the kick ass party his frat through or how they're totally messing with their pledge class. They're interested or they aren't, but there will be no wondering. But in so many cases, it seems like that's what college relationships are all about. Goodbye pointless conversations and emoji conversations. (Don't get me wrong: I love pizza and Netflix, but I also love a nice dinner and a glass of wine, k? Sleeping together literally means sleeping together. Crazy that a guy could lie in bed with a girl all night and not try to have sex, right? People get turned off by different things, my friends and I have a long list of shit we just can't deal with when it comes to guys. I decided to conduct a random survey as to what turns guys off. Therefore they are understanding and supportive in helping you find yourself and be sure of who you are.
